This week’s Paw Prints from Principal Katie Grassa:

- Columbus Day: There will be no school TOMORROW, Monday, October 12th in observance of Columbus Day. We hope you enjoy the long weekend!
- Music Donation: Ann Chinchilla DeGeorge, Curley Parent, has secured a large music grant to fund supplies and materials to support our new music teacher Melanie Bourgeault. The Ernie Boch Foundation was here on Thursday at noon to present Ms. Bourgeault with the materials and to meet students. Thanks to Ann for caring about our students and music education! We all want to thank Ernie Boch Jr for his caring nature and support of music in our school. Please feel free to Tweet and thank him yourself @erniebochjr and @musicdrivesus. Also this was featured in the Inside Track of the Boston Herald on Friday, October 9th.
- Library/Technology Committee: The first meeting of the Library/Technology Committee will be this Tuesday, October 13 from 4:30-5:30 in Room 101. All are welcome. For more information, please contact Ashley Rao at ashley.f.rao@gmail.com.
- School Site Council (SSC): The SSC will meet on Tuesday, October 13th from 5:30pm-7:00pm in the Upper School room 101. All families attending should enter through the CASP doors.
- Fall Fling: The School Parent Council (SPC) will host the 9th Annual Fall Fling THIS Friday, October 16th from 5:30pm – 8pm. We are looking for volunteers to help sell raffle tickets both within their network as well as at local JP establishments on the weekends. If you are interested in volunteering please contact Jessica London-Rand: jlondonrand@gmail.com
- Fall Fling Raffle Ticket Sales: We need your help selling raffle tickets for the Fall Fling! There are three large prizes that can be won: iPad Mini, Xbox, $300 Bike from Ferris Wheels. Tickets are $5 each or 5 tickets for $20. If you are willing to buy or sell tickets please contact Kristin Jurkoic at kjurkoic@yahoo.com. Tickets were sent home with students this past week and they need to be returned on Tuesday, October 13 to school, whether they have been sold or not. All proceeds go directly toward funding arts programming at the Curley such as Community Music Center and BalletRox.
- Curley Shares: On Thursday, October 15th we will kick off our first Curley Shares event. These are monthly assemblies that mix two grades of students to listen to a monthly message, watch a class demonstrate of some learning and then award students who are modeling our Curley Expectations (We Care About Ourselves, We Care About Each Other, We Care About Our School). Please ask your child about this event on Thursday night. We will continue to hold Curley Shares on the first Thursday of the month for the remainder of the school year.
- Lost and Found: A lost and found bin has been established outside of the nurse’s office. If your child has lost or misplaced an item please have them check the bin. Starting in November the bin will be emptied on the first of the month. Unclaimed items will be donated to Good Will or washed and kept in the Nurse’s Office as extra clothing for Curley students. Thanks in advance for your support!
- Picture Day: School pictures will be taken on October 27th (K-5) & 28th (6-8). More information will be sent home to families. Click here to print your order forms in advance (K-5 here, 6-8 here) and contact Mr. Diaz with any questions ddiaz@bostonpublicschools.org.
- Arrival and Dismissal: Please keep in mind that the doors open at 8:15am and the official school day begins promptly at 8:30am. Please make sure to have your child arrive on time for the start of the day. Dismissal begins at 2:25pm. We are asking all families to remain outside at dismissal. We are also asking families to not release students after 1:45pm. It makes for a hectic dismissal and is disruptive to classroom learning.
