Principal Grassa’s Paw Prints (02/08/16)

Heshan Berents-Weeramuni

This week’s Paw Prints from Principal Katie Grassa:

  • Middle School: Middle School report cards will go home on Tuesday with students.
  • SSC: The February School Site Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, February 9th from 5:30pm-7:00pm in the Upper School Room 101. All families are welcome to attend and can enter through the CASP doors.
  • 9th Annual Silent Auction: The 9th Annual Curley Silent Auction will take place on Tuesday, March 29th at Canary Square. Please save the date and join us for our largest fundraiser of the year. If you are interested in helping out or donating an item to auction off please email Ann DeGeorge at ann.c.degeorge@gmail.com. All of the proceeds from this event directly impact students at the Curley and support arts, science and technology.
  • February Vacation: We will have vacation starting in February. There will be no school for students February 15th-19th. School will resume for all students on Monday, February 22nd.
  • Snow: Throughout the rest of the winter we would like to ask all families to speak with their children about throwing snow. We want all students to be safe as they enter and exit school and we are asking that all adults and students leave the snow on the ground during those times. We are also asking that families and students use the shoveled spaces to walk and do not walk through the snowy yard. This is to help assure that no one falls and gets hurt. Thank you!
  • Labeling Coats: We are asking families to label their child’s coat on the inside tag. This way if the coat gets lost we can return it to the rightful owner. We have had many winter coats end up in the lost & found and we want to prevent this from continuing.
  • Arrival: Please keep in mind that the doors open at 8:15am and the official school day begins promptly at 8:30am. Please make sure to have your child arrive on time for the start of the day. Families are welcome to accompany their child to the class each morning between 8:15-8:35. After 8:35am all students will be marked tardy and cannot be escorted by families members to class.
  • Dismissal: Dismissal begins at 2:25pm. We are asking all families to remain outside at dismissal. We are also asking families to not release students after 1:45pm. It makes for a hectic dismissal and is disruptive to classroom learning. Also to assure the safety of the 300+ students who participate in afterschool activities we will not be able to allow families back into the building to use the facilities after dismissal. There are not staff on duty to supervise this past 2:45pm.
