This week’s Paw Prints from Principal Katie Grassa:

- School Climate Survey: Families we are asking you all to complete the BPS School Climate Survey. We need parents to complete this to have useful data as we plan for next school year as well as for grants and certifications. We will send paper surveys home with every student on Monday afternoon or you can access the survey at this link, http://www.bostonpublicschools.org/climatesurvey. All surveys are due by April 15th!
- 9th Annual Silent Auction: The 9th Annual Curley Silent Auction will take place THIS Tuesday, March 29th at Canary Square. Please join us for our largest fundraiser of the year. All of the proceeds from this event directly impact students at the Curley and support arts, science and technology. If you can’t make the event you can still participate online at www.biddingforgood.com/curleyk8. Feel free to share this with your family, friends and social network! Thanks!
- AWC for All: We will begin our community planning for AWC for All on Thursday, March 31st from 3pm-4pm. All families are welcome to attend.
- Shout Out: Shout out to our 6th graders for their hard work and 3rd place finish at the Destination Imagination State Competition this weekend! Elan Peng, Renia Zerai, Santi Roquet, Victoria Merritt and Steve Snekvik came in 3rd – one spot away from qualifying for the Global Finals in Tennessee. Their structure weighed less than a 1/4 of a pound and supported 715 pounds. It could have held more, but they ran out of room on the judge’s measuring post! They competed in the structural challenge of the state Destination Imagination competition, after winning Regionals last week. DI is a creativity, problem solving, and teamwork competition and in their challenge they had to build a structure that supported weight and was ALSO a musical instrument, have a musical character and a musical costume, and integrate weight placement on their structure into their storyline. They had to present their entire solution in the form of a skit. They also had to compete in an instant challenge, which they knew nothing about until it was presented to them on competition day. Well done to the entire team and to team coach Olivia Peters!
- Hiring: We are looking for parents to help us with the interview process. Your voice is an important part in assuring we hire the best educators at our school. No prior experience is necessary. This is a great opportunity to get involved in the school and collaborate with teachers and administrators. Please email Katie Grassa (kgrassa@bostonpublicschools.org) if you are interested in helping any of these interview dates. We will also offer free daycare in CASP for those who need it.

3pm-6pm - Principal Breakfast: Please join us on Friday, April 1st from 8:45am-9:45am in room 221 (Upper School) for the Principal Breakfast. We will discuss PARCC Testing and the AWC for All community planning process.
- Red Jacket Weekend 2016: Each year in September, City Year corps members and staff kick off their year of service with a large-scale service day benefiting a school in our communities. We are very excited to announce that next year, the Curley K-8 will be the host and beneficiary of this event. On a Saturday in September, around 750 volunteers from the City Year community will be coming out to the Curley and the surrounding community for a day of volunteering that will be organized by a specialized team from City Year. Projects for this type of event can include painting, murals, organization, landscaping, light construction and the creation of resources for students and teachers. Your input and feedback is essential for us to best align our projects with the needs of the school and we greatly appreciate you for taking the time to answer the questions using this link. Should you have any questions or want any additional information, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Maria Ploessl at mploessl@cityyear.org.
