School Climate Surveys: Please complete the BPS School Climate Survey. Plant Sale: Please join us for the 17th Annual Plant Sale on Saturday, May 6th from 10am-2pm. This event will take place in the parking lot across from the school on Centre St. This is a fundraiser to support arts, music and science for all our students. If you are able to help before or during the plant sale, click here to sign up. Thank you to the School Parent Council (SPC) for organizing this event!

SUPPORT THE CURLEY K-8 LIBRARY…AND GET CAR SERVICE FROM MORRISON’S AUTO-RITE: Morrison’s Auto-Rite (475 Centre Street, Jamaica Plain) is offering car maintenance services for FREE with a small donation to the Curley Library (the total cost of the car services far exceed the donation!!!) Bring a check or money order to Morrison’s Auto-Rite made out to Friend’s of the Curley Fund for $95 and Morrison’s Auto-Rite will provide you with the following services and items:

• Free comprehensive multi-point inspection (check over your
car’s health) including:

  • Free Oil Change (up to a $39.95 value). NOTE: some cars
  • have additional charges for synthetic oil

  • Rotate tires
  • Balance two front tires (while doing rotation)
  • Free front wiper blades (most cars); no appointment needed
    for wiper blade install
  • Second free oil change (up to a $39.95 value)
  • Upgraded warranty on repair work done by Morrison’s Auto
    Rite to 2 years or 24,000 miles, whichever comes first.
    (There are a few exceptions for normal wear items, i.e.
    tires)
  • Unlimited tire pressure adjusting, no appointment needed
  • Unlimited fluid level checks, no appointment needed

You must present the check in the amount of $95, made out to Friends of the Curley Library Fund, in person to Morrison’s Autorite to be eligible for these services! No credit cards, please!

Curley Family Arts Night: Families, students and staff please join us for arts and community building as we prepare for Wake Up The Earth (WUTE)! On May 3rd from 5pm-7:30pm in room 014. Please bring drinks and snacks to share as well as an open mind as we prepare for the WUTE Parade. The parade will take place on Saturday, May 6th and the theme is “Life is Water.” We would like to have a large showing of Curley families to march and share artwork. Principal Breakfast:
Please join us for the May principal breakfast on Friday, May 5th from 8:45am-9:45am. We will be discussing summer reading opportunities.

LGBTQ+ Picnic: Please join us for the LGBTQ+ picnic on Thursday May 18th from 6:00-7:30pm. All families and community members are welcome!!!

Library and Technology Committee: Thank you again to the Curley community for continued success with our fundraising drive toward a new, fully staffed library in the fall. We are now at $40,000, well on our way to $70,000!! Our next committee meeting is Saturday, May 13 at 9:00 am at the school (Centre Street entrance) to discuss our next round of fundraising and grant writing. MCAS: The MCAS testing will begin on Tuesday, April 4th and go through the end of May. This is a long window, which helps us ensure that students aren’t testing on back-to-back days. Parent University: BPS Parent University seeks to “educate and empower parents as partners, advocates and lifelong teachers in their child’s education through educational courses and leadership opportunities.” Our next Parent University Large Conference will take place on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Northeastern University from 8:30 am -3:00 pm. This is a FREE event for all families and we provide breakfast, lunch, parking passes and childcare with pre-registration. ELT: Our school hours for next year will be 8:30am-3:10pm. We will continue to offer a before and after school program here as well.
