Updated – June Events at the Curley

Heshan Berents-Weeramuni

The last month of the school calendar is filled with events of all kinds. Below are a list of some that are already on the calendar.

Please note that an earlier version of the story had the incorrect date for both Field Day and the 5th Grade Awards Ceremony. The correct date for both is Friday, June 15.

UPDATED NEWS
An earlier version of this story had reported the baseball Championship Game was to be held today.

Due to what BPS describes as “unforeseen circumstances,” today’s baseball Championship Game has been postponed until Friday, June 8 at 5 p.m. The field is to be determined. The Edwards Middle School is already in the final and will play either the Curley or the Timilty.

Last week’s playoff game between the Curley and Timity we initially believed had been decided in the Curley’s favor. This morning however, the BPS Athletics Department decided the game had ended prematurely. Therefore the Curley and Timilty will resume the game at the bottom of the fifth inning on Wednesday, June 6 at 3:45 p.m. at Ross Field in Roslindale. The Curley was leading 5 – 4 when they were initially declared winners by the three umpires present. Come cheer our Curley Lions on again!

Friday, June 8, 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Upper School Audtorium

On June 8th at 9 a.m. the 1st, 2nd, 3rd (SEI), Ms. Taylor-Knight’s Curley Ambassadors of Dance and two groups of 5th graders will perform dances for “All That Jazz” a history of jazz through movement. The program will include our own music teacher and musician Mike Flanagan.  The program will be about an hour in length.

For the day of performance students should dress comfortably and appropriately to move.  Ms. Taylor-Knight suggests plain T-shirts and pants or shorts that are not too sloppy or loose or pants that are too long. Skinny jeans or leggings are fine or skirts for girls that are not too dressy.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact Ms. Taylor-Knight at storyinabox@gmail.com or leave a message at the school.
