Science Fair is on February 14th – Judges Needed

Heshan Berents-Weeramuni

Our science teacher Ms. Selznick would like us to remind you the Science Fair this year will be held on Thursday, February 14 in the Upper School Gym. It has been extended until 6 p.m. this year.

In addition to the resources she has provided earlier, below is an organization guide for setting up the presentation board:

She adds that all students will be graded on their science projects.

She is also looking for judges to help judge Science Fair entries. So please contact Ms. Selznick directly if you can help, or if have any other questions about the Fair.

UPDATE: The Science Fair will feature the work of 3rd – 6th and 8th grade students. Students can use cardboard boxes if they don’t want to buy a science board.

UPDATE 2: For those planning to make your own presentation board, I looked at an old presentation board used by my eldest as a guide. It is 36 inches tall by 48 inches wide. The board has three panels, with the side panels being 12 inches wide each, leaving the middle one to be wider at 24 inches. See the picture above for reference.

I’m so glad that the science fair has been extended… but ending at 6pm won’t allow for most working parents to attend. Last year’s science fair was a highlight of the year – it was really great getting to see all of the other students’ work and share in their accomplishments – and wonderful having an event that focuses on academics. Really a shame if that will not be the case this year.
