The annual Curley K-8 Fall Fling is our key fundraising event of the year – it brings in 40% of the money we raise to support music, art, and science at the Curley!
This year’s event, the 7th annual, is on Friday, October 18th from 5:30 p.m. – 8 p.m. It will be held as usual in the Upper School Gym. Enter through the Pershing Street bridge entrance. This event is attended by hundreds of people, including the Mayor, Superintendent, and some City Councilor.
This Fall Fling features raffles, exciting prizes (an Apple iPad Mini, a kid’s bike, and an xBox 360 with Kinect), thrift shopping, food, ice cream, and dancing, and much more for the whole family!
Those of you who have attended in the past know how terrific the Fall Fling is, and it takes a lot of volunteers to pull it off. To make this year’s Fall Fling a success, we really need you to pitch in. Many of the things we need help with take two hours or less.
There will be a kick-off meeting for the organizers next Tuesday, September 17th at 7 p.m. at Curtis Hall. If you are unable to come to the meeting, but are interested in helping out, please see the combined Doodle poll created to coordinate volunteers.
Here are some easy ways you can help:

Sell raffle tickets for a mere two hours outside of JP Licks on September 21st and 22nd (Open Studios Weekend), 28th, October 3rd (Open Studios Thursday evening), or October 5th or 12th:
- Sign up online now – REMEMBER TO EXPAND THE COLUMNS!
- Choose a date and a two-hour block that you can commit to between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturdays, or the 6 pm. – 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 3rd.
- We need at least TWO families for each slot – kids are welcome (and are often great at persuading folks to support the Curley!)

Sell raffle tickets on your own to your friends, family, neighbors, or colleagues:
- Please contact Inci Kaya, our lead fundraising committee co-chair this year who is coordinating the event.
- Tell her how many raffle tickets you would like.
- We will get the tickets to you!

Contribute your treasures to our Unique Thrift Shop. Suggestions for donations include:
- Home accessories in new or very good condition
- Fun and interesting clothing in new or very good condition
- Costume jewelry in new or very good condition
- Accessories such as hats, belts or handbags in new or very good condition
- Other interesting items too good to toss but no longer used in your home
- Kids items that your children have outgrown (books, CDs, DVDs, toys) in new or very good condition

Make and donate a themed basket to be raffled off at the event:
