Principal Grassa’s Paw Prints (01/11/15)

Heshan Berents-Weeramuni

This week’s Paw Prints from Principal Katie Grassa:

  • New Building Signs: Many of you may have noticed the new signs hanging around the building! A few things you should know:
    • Curley parents and staff handmade and painted 120 signs!  It took a lot of work so please encourage students to Care About Our School by respecting the signs. Encourage students to read them, but not to touch them.
    • Yellow arrows lead to destinations in the lower school and green arrows lead to destinations in the upper school.  All traffic is intentionally directed through the first floor hallway. Please use the signs to direct parents and visitors.

We created this video for you to watch with your child(ren)!

    The direct link is here:https://vimeo.com/116213297.

The sign project is part of the climate team’s effort to improve the physical environment in our school. We hope this makes the Curley a friendlier, more accessible place for ALL families.

    • I would like to give a shout out to Curley parent Dave Hamilton and teachers Megan Nason and Genet Mehari for all the thoughtful planning and time they put into this project since we first met about it in July. These three spent their vacation painting signs and hanging them around the school. I would also like to thank parents Beth Bendavid-Val and Oren Bendavid-Val who also assisted with the painting last week and our custodian John Carey for his assistance in the plan.

An extra special thank you to Curley students Ella and Katie Hamilton for narrating the video!

  • Principal Breakfast: On Friday, January 16th from 8:45am-9:45am there will be a principal breakfast in the Upper School Library for all families. Arusha Hollister will present material around supporting your students at home with mathematics.
  • Martin Luther King Day: There will be no school on Monday, January 19th in observance of Martin Luther King Day.
  • Community Music Center Performance: CMCB will hold a winter performance on Thursday, January 22nd at 9am in the auditorium, all are welcome to attend!
  • Snow: During this winter we would like to ask all families to talk with their children to be careful around snow. We want all students to be safe as they enter and exit school and we are asking that all adults and students leave the snow on the ground during those times. We are also asking that families and students use the shoveled spaces to walk and do not walk through the snowy yard. This is to help assure that no one falls and gets hurt. Thank you!
  • Social Media: If you are on Twitter be sure to follow me @principalgrassa. This is a great way to share up to date information about the Curley.
