This week’s Paw Prints from Principal Katie Grassa:

- ELT: BPS central office notified me this weekend that we will no longer start the Extended Learning Time (ELT) schedule next school year. This means that our start and end times for next school year will stay the same as this year, 8:30-2:30. I apologize for the inconvenience this has caused, and want to thank all of you who spent time and energy planning for next school year. We do believe we have learned from this process and will be able to apply some of our learning within our regular school day next year. As more information arises we are committed to communicating that with you all. If you have specific questions about this decision please contact Shandra Goldfinger at sgoldfinger@bostonpublicschools.org.
- 8th Annual Curley Night At The Museum Of Science: Thank you to the Museum of Science for allowing our school community to visit on Friday evening. It was a wonderful learning event for all families who attended. Thank you to the SPC for coordinating the event for us all.
- Book Swap: The Winter Book Swap has been rescheduled to Friday, January 29th! Students in Grades K2-5 will be able to choose a “new to you” book from the donated collection during their lunch period.
WE NEED MORE BOOKS!
Look for the blue donation boxes in the Upper and Lower school lobbies. The deadline for donating books for the book swap is Thursday, January 28th. Please contact Caitlyn Gable (Lower School- cmcsheffrey@bostonpublicschools.org) or Eileen Cronin (Upper School – ecronin@bostonpublicschools.org) with any questions.
- Middle School: Grades close for all students in 6th-8th grade on Friday, January 29th. Reports cards should be sent within two weeks from that time.
- ACCESS Testing: ACCESS Testing will take place this week for all English Language Learners. This week we will focus on the reading and writing and the remaining weeks on the individual speaking portions of the test. Please contact Waverly Kidd for details (wkidd@bostonpublicschools.org).

- Snow: In preparation for the winter we would like to ask all families to speak with their children about throwing snow. We want all students to be safe as they enter and exit school and we are asking that all adults and students leave the snow on the ground during those times. We are also asking that families and students use the shoveled spaces to walk and do not walk through the snowy yard. This is to help assure that no one falls and gets hurt. Thank you!
- Labeling Coats: We are asking families to label their child’s coat on the inside tag. This way if the coat gets lost we can return it to the rightful owner. We have had many winter coats end up in the lost & found and we want to prevent this from continuing.
- Arrival: Please keep in mind that the doors open at 8:15am and the official school day begins promptly at 8:30am. Please make sure to have your child arrive on time for the start of the day. Families are welcome to accompany their child to the class each morning between 8:15-8:35. After 8:35am all students will be marked tardy and cannot be escorted by families members to class.
- Dismissal: Dismissal begins at 2:25pm. We are asking all families to remain outside at dismissal. We are also asking families to not release students after 1:45pm. It makes for a hectic dismissal and is disruptive to classroom learning. Also to assure the safety of the 300+ students who participate in afterschool activities we will not be able to allow families back into the building to use the facilities after dismissal. There are not staff on duty to supervise this past 2:45pm.
