Library and Technology Campaign: Our Library & Technology campaign raised over $22,000 so far! The School Parent Council and the Library/Technology Committee are asking for your support to ensure that Curley students are well prepared for the 21st century.  A staffed, modern and well-stocked library is a key part of this goal. Our shared vision for the Curley Library includes both traditional and digital media: an updated collection of books to support our students’ literacy development and reading interests, and the technology and online resources to allow students to research, collaborate, and present information digitally. Please consider a tax-deductible donation in support of the Curley K-8’s Library and Technology Campaign. More details about the initiative and giving can be found on the school website http://www.curleyk8.com/library/

ACCESS Testing: Starting this week through February break, all students designated as English Language Learners (ELL) will be assessed for their English Language Development Level (ELD). The ACCESS test is a state-mandated assessment. Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any further questions.

New Health and Wellness Policy: The Curley K-8 Community has begun implementing a Celebration and Reward Policy focused on the health and wellness of our community.  This policy uses tools for academic success to recognize important events, exceptional behavior and teamwork in place of food and candy.  At the Curley K-8 the majority of celebrations (holidays, birthdays, end-of-school year etc.) will be recognized without food/candy in the classroom, please discuss with your student’s teacher how they will recognize birthdays.  At the Curley K-8 exceptional behavior and/or teamwork will also be recognized without food/candy. This policy will be followed in CASP and other school sports/clubs. The one exception to this is the PACE program.  Please click here for a detailed memo of this policy and thank you for your support to help take care of our community.

Curley winter gear update: A big thank you to all those who have donated winter gear so far! It is much appreciated and being sent home with students every day. We still need more (coats, hats, mittens/gloves, boots, etc), especially as the days get colder. We can use all sizes, from 3t – adult. Donation boxes can be found in both the Upper and Lower School lobbies. If your child is in need of winter gear, please let his/her teacher know. Thanks for helping keep Curley kids warm this winter!

Lion King Performances: Ms. Taylor Knight was the recipient of a district-wide donation of shoes, tights and bodysuits, which will help costume the Lion King cast.  Thanks to BPS Arts Department (Myron, Allyssa and Dawn) and the Boston Dance Alliance. Snow: In preparation for the winter we would like to ask all families to talk with their children about throwing snow. We want all students to be safe as they enter and exit school and we are asking that all adults and students leave the snow on the ground during those times. We are also asking that families and students use the shoveled spaces to walk and do not walk through the snowy yard. This is to help assure that no one falls and gets hurt. Thank you!
