School Climate Surveys: Please complete the BPS School Climate Survey you can now access online surveys on the Boston Public Schools webpage in English, Spanish, Haitian, Somali, Vietnamese, Cape Verdean, Chinese, and Portuguese. Please visit to bostonpublicschools.org/climatesurvey in order to access the survey. This information is important to our school and helps us plan for next year!

Caring March: Thank you to all the families, student and staff who came out to support our Caring March on Wednesday, April 12th. It was a beautiful event that showed how much we care as a community. Be sure that if you are sharing your pictures on social media to use the hashtag #curleycaresmarch.

Parent Café: The guidance office in conjunction with Children’s Services of Roxbury (CSR) is coordinating a parent cafe information session to share about summer opportunities for your students. The session will take place in the auditorium on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 8:30am- 10:30am. All parents, guardians and caregivers are invited to attend the event. We are mailing home a flyer to families, and would also like to send a copy home with students. If you have a strong line of communication with families with which you can share the information about this event so we can better reach out, please help! Thank you! School Parent Council Meeting April 26 Room 221 at 8:45am:
Coffee, Danishes, and SPC chat on Wednesday April 26 at 8:45am in room 221. The Silent Auction is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and it supports programming, like Play Works, Arts, and Field Trips. Let’s celebrate another year of success with coffee and danishes. There are still more opportunities to volunteer at the Curley, come find out ways to help the SPC with up coming events; 17th Annual Plant Sale, Rock Monitor, and Teacher Appreciation Day. Plant Sale: Please join us for the 17th Annual Plant Sale on Saturday, May 6th from 10am-2pm. This event will take place in the parking lot across from the school on Centre St. This is a fundraiser to support arts, music and science for all our students. Curley Family Arts Night: Families, students and staff please join us for arts and community building as we prepare for Wake Up The Earth (WUTE)! On April 26th & May 3rd from 5pm-7:30pm in room 014. Please bring drinks and snacks to share as well as an open mind as we prepare for the WUTE Parade. The parade will take place on Saturday, May 6th and the theme is “Life is Water.” We would like to have a large showing of Curley families to march and share artwork. LGBTQ+ Picnic: Please join us for the LGBTQ+ picnic on Thursday May 18th from 6:00-7:30pm. All families and community members are welcome!!!

MCAS: The MCAS testing will begin on Tuesday, April 4th and go through the end of May. This is a long window, which helps us ensure that students aren’t testing on back-to-back days. We want to spread out the testing to reduce any anxiety. Click the link to see our testing calendar by grade level and subject area.
MCAS 2.0 Testing Schedule

Parent University: BPS Parent University seeks to “educate and empower parents as partners, advocates and lifelong teachers in their child’s education through educational courses and leadership opportunities.” Our next Parent University Large Conference will take place on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Northeastern University from 8:30 am -3:00 pm. This is a FREE event for all families and we provide breakfast, lunch, parking passes and childcare with pre-registration. Library and Technology Committee: The Curley K-8 Library will reopen next fall, with a full-time paraprofessional staff person! Thank you again to the Curley community for the successful fundraising drive, we are more than halfway to our goal of $70,000. Our next committee meeting is Saturday, May 13 at 8:30 am at the school (Centre Street entrance) to discuss our next round of fundraising and grant writing.
