MCAS: MCAS Math will begin the week of April 30th. Please make sure that your child gets a good night sleep, arrives to school on time and eats a healthy breakfast either at home or here at school. Green Cleaner Swap Day-APRIL 24th: Green Cleaner Swap Day is on Tuesday, April 24th (7:45-10am). We are in need of volunteers to help us distribute the cleaners. Please meet us in the upper school cafeteria on Tuesday morning at 7:45am. Please call Nina at 949-351-6476 and meet at the CASP door to be let in early. Can’t come but would love to help out? Consider donating paper towels to the school. You can drop off your paper towels at the front office (both lower and upper school) or drop it off in room 209 Upper School.
Curley Plant Sale: Happy Spring! The 18th Annual Curley Plant Sale is coming up on Saturday, May 5th from 10 – 2 in the parking lot across from the school. Please share the date with friends, family and neighbors. There will be a great selection of annuals, vegetables and herbs; a bake sale (items needed); and activities for the kids. Proceeds support programs at the school. If you can help out the day of or drop off a baked good or water please sign up here. Come cheer on the runners, pass them some water/Gatorade and cheer them onto the finish line! 2018 BPS Climate Survey – Due 5/1/2018: Parent, Teacher, and Student Climate Surveys will be released online on March 12th. Chromebooks and document cameras will be awarded to schools with high parent participation rates and the greatest improvement in parent participation. We are asking teachers to have students complete these in class and for families to complete these as well. Any families who need access to technology can complete these at the school with us. Playworks: Here are some updates from our partner Playworks.
- Thursday, May 10th from is Peace on Earth night! At recess across the country there has been numerous incidents of bullying both verbal and physical. Coach Jacqui wants to bring awareness to this growing problem and give the community the resources to support students. A local speaker will start off the night, and students and families will rotate through stations focusing on relaxation techniques and bullying prevention.
- On Saturday, May 19th is Playworks Run for Recess 5K. This is a fundraiser that Playworks hosts every year to raise money and awareness for the importance of recess in low income school systems. The Run for Recess is a unique 5K and One Mile Fun Run race that gives families the opportunity to participate in a race for the very first time. The Run for Recess offers opportunities for the whole family to get involved at Franklin Park’s world-famous cross-country course adjacent to the zoo! All participants will enjoy a fun family environment, an electronically timed race, and an awesome goodie bag. Paper registration forms will be handed out by Coach Jacqui during school or sign up with this link: playworks.org/ne-run2018.
